A former assistant principal in Virginia is set to go on trial three years after a 6-year-old student allegedly brought a gun to school and shot a teacher.
The incident occurred at Belle Aire Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia, in December 2018. According to the lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice, a 6-year-old boy, who was being homeschooled but had been allowed into the school for unsupervised playtime, brought a loaded handgun onto the premises and shot 57-year-old teacher Debra Blackstock in the abdomen during morning recess.
