Two deadly diseases are wreaking havoc on Prince Edward Island's (PEI) oyster industry, with shellfish farmers reporting a 90-per-cent reduction in production due to the spread of these pathogens.
The primary culprit is Dermo disease, caused by a parasite that has been present in the region for decades but has recently intensified its impact.
