Parts of southern Ontario are under a yellow warning for heat as Environment Canada issues its first extreme weather alert of the season.
The warning covers much of southwestern and central Ontario, with temperatures predicted to reach or exceed 30°C (86°F) in many areas on Victoria Day weekend. The agency is warning residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses and stay hydrated.
"The combination of warm temperatures and high humidity can create a dangerous situation for those not properly prepared," said Environment Canada meteorologist Amanda Smithson.
