A Palestinian man who was shot and seriously wounded by Israeli troops while attempting to enter Israel from the West Bank has died in a hospital in the northern Israeli city of Safed, officials said Monday.
The 26-year-old man, identified as Ahmad Abu Ammar, was shot with a live bullet after reportedly trying to cross into Israel illegally through a tunnel or opening at the Erez checkpoint near the town of Jenin. The incident occurred late Sunday evening and he was taken to a hospital in Safed where he later died.
