Mark Fuhrman, the former Los Angeles Police Department detective who was convicted of perjury and false swearing for his use of racist slurs during the O.J. Simpson murder trial in 1995, has died at the age of 78.
Fuhrman was a key figure in the initial stages of the investigation into the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in June 1994. His discovery of bloody glove prints on the front door of the Simpson residence became one of the most significant pieces of evidence presented during the trial, although their relevance to the case later came under scrutiny.
