Malaysia has sought compensation of 308 million Malaysian ringgit (about US$251 million) from Norwegian defence company Kongsberg Defence Systems after the latter withdrew its business permit in Malaysia, scuttling a deal for missile systems.
The request was made by Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mohamed Azmin Ali, who called on the government to take action against Kongsberg. The ministry has initiated legal proceedings against the Norwegian company for failing to inform the Ministry of Defence about its decision to withdraw its business permit.
