Canadian fast-food chain wants to return to Cape Breton

Harvey’s has not had a restaurant on the island for the last seven years following the closure of its Sydney location in 2019. The historic franchise hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to the Cape Breton market, the company says. “We can confirm that Harvey’s remains very interested in returning to Sydney,” said Harvey’s in an email to the Cape Breton Post. “Our team is actively seeking qualified franchisees and exploring prospective locations in the region.” Because the company has not yet finalized a franchisee agreement or secured a specific site, Harvey’s says they don’t currently have a confirmed opening timeline or location details to share as of now. Harvey’s is a Canadian-owned company and has 295 restaurants across the country. The chain is owned by Recipe Unlimited, previously known as Cara Operation. In January 2018, Cara announced they would be taking over the Keg chain of 106 steakhouses, to add to its 1,259 restaurants across North America that include Swiss Chalet and Harvey’s. Its menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, onion rings and poutine. The restaurant has 17 locations in Atlantic Canada including seven in New Brunswick, six in Nova Scotia, three in Newfoundland and Labrador and one in Prince Edward Island.
