Carney said the U.S. introduced last-minute demands that would have hurt Canada’s auto sector, restricted its ability to pursue trade deals with other countries and weakened protections for Canadian culture and sovereignty. Canada’s retaliatory measures will target sectors including steel, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, and electronics.
