The fire happened last Thursday evening. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded around 10:16 p.m. to a blaze at a two-storey home in the 300 block of St. Johns Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke spewing from the home, but got the flames under control just after 11 p.m., WFPS said in a news release. The home’s three occupants were taken to hospital, including one in critical condition. Mark Bosadas Marmeto, 35, died of his injuries the following day, police said. A 53-year-old man who was taken to hospital in unstable condition remained there on Monday.
