Lisa Patton found she broke the municipal code of conduct for elected officials. Article content Patton, who represents District 8, said the complaint was about a series of public Facebook posts she made in April. Article content Article content The posts discussed topics related to the Rath Eastlink Community Centre (RECC), the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Complex, and the Nova Scotia Stampede. Article content Article content “I won’t back down from any of those posts that I made,” Patton said in an interview on Sept. 2. Article content “They were part of a transparency series. They were factual. They provided information that I had been provided from various community members, and I stand by my posts.” Article content Article content The RECC, jointly owned by the Municipality of Colchester and the Town of Truro, started going through governance changes over a year ago. Article content Its current board, comprised of municipal councillors, was selected in January as part of a new governance model. Article content The board announced the closure of the Rustic Table restaurant in February, and the cancellation of the Nova Scotia Stampede in March. Article content The board is no longer involved at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Complex in Bible Hill. Article content COMPLAINT FILED IN MAY Article content District 5 Coun. Tim Johnson said he filed the complaint against Patton in May. He is the chairman of the current RECC board.
