PHOTO BY HALIFAX PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS Article content Another house went up in flames in Timberlea this weekend, next door to where police suspect a Molotov cocktail was used to burn down a home last week. Article content Police said they believe a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a home in the 400 block of Marketway Lane at about 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 5. While the home was engulfed in flames, neighbouring properties sustained minor damage, but no injuries were reported. Article content Article content Article content On Sept. 7 at about 4:10 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Marketway Lane following a report of a suspicious person. Investigators learned a man was seen leaving a residence with a cloth lit on fire. The man dropped the cloth and fled in a vehicle. A jug containing an accelerant had been left in the yard. Article content Then, on Sunday morning at 3:05 a.m., firefighters were called to the house next door. Article content District Chief Scott MacKellar said on Sunday that the first fire crew arrived within six minutes. Article content They found a three-storey structure “with significant fire involvement.” Article content “There were additional resources requested. Water supply was established. Neighbouring residences were assessed, and there was no fire spread.” Article content He said he didn’t know if anyone was in the house, but there were no injuries reported.
