The man, who cannot be named, will stand trial in June 2027 on 13 charges, including six counts of common assault and one of sexual assault. PHOTO BY STEVE BRUCE Article content A Lower Sackville man will stand trial in Dartmouth provincial court in June 2027 on charges of abusing his ex-wife over a period of 22 years. Article content The 46-year-old man cannot be named because of a publication ban on any information that could identify the alleged victim. Article content Article content He is charged with 13 offences that were allegedly committed between January 2004 and February of this year, when he was arrested and released on an undertaking to a police officer. Article content The man faces six counts of common assault, two counts each of uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death and uttering threats to burn or destroy property, and single counts of sexual assault, sharing intimate images without consent, and causing unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal. Article content Lawyer Steve Degen entered not-guilty pleas Monday on behalf of the accused. Judge Amy Sakalauskas scheduled the trial for three days beginning June 21, 2027. Article content The man’s release conditions prohibit him from contacting his ex and their son and from attending places associated with them.
