Article content The 33-year-old, from Charlottetown, is entering his second season as head coach of the Halifax Mooseheads. Article content Article content “It’s an exciting year for us,” MacKenzie told The Guardian in a phone interview on Sept. 14. “We’re at our final roster and 50 per cent of our team, almost exactly, is returning players, so it’s kind of two-fold. Article content Article content “We’re really excited to see the progress of those returning guys and there’s some important players in that mix that are kind of key core guys. Article content “Then the 50-per-cent new players that we have are kind of on the older side, too – some free-agent signings; some older draft picks; a couple new European players. We’re really excited with what they’ve shown us throughout training camp as well.” Article content The Mooseheads are coming off a 29-29-3-3 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) record in MacKenzie’s first season as head coach. MacKenzie said expectations are high for the Mooseheads this season.
