Premier Rob Lantz has moved into a role overseeing a committee tasked with reducing regulatory burdens on Island businesses. Article content Dean Lund, who was named the deputy chief of staff to Premier Rob Lantz days after Lantz was sworn in as premier on Feb. 9, has been moved to the role of executive director of fiscal responsibility and red tape reduction. Article content Article content Article content According to the P.E.I. Premier’s Office, Lund will be responsible for leading up a committee known as Project ART. Article content Lund’s role will be distinct from a cabinet committee on fiscal responsibility and red tape reduction, which will not overlap with his work leading up Project ART. Article content Addressing red tape Article content An Aug. 13 order in council rescinded Lund’s appointment as deputy chief of staff, effective Sept. 7, 2026. Article content That same day, the province announced several changes to its senior management team, including the appointments of new deputy ministers in the three departments and the appointment of Doriann Macmillan as the new CEO of the P.E.I. Energy Corporation. Article content Lund’s name was not mentioned in this announcement. Article content Project ART, or Addressing Red Tape, was a committee created under the former Wade MacLauchlan government in 2016. Article content At the time, the committee was tasked with streamlining government regulatory processes and engaging with business and agricultural stakeholders, according to a 2016 tourism sector roundtable report.
