PHOTO BY STEVE BRUCE Article content A Halifax man accused of sexually abusing his son has been granted bail with the Crown’s consent. Article content The 45-year-old cannot be named because of a publication ban on any information that could identify the alleged victim. Article content Article content The man was arrested late last week and charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault. Article content Police allege the offences were committed in the Lower Sackville area between November 2023 and August of this year. Article content Article content The man first appeared in Halifax bail court Friday, when the Crown opposed his release and asked for time to prepare for a bail hearing. Article content On Tuesday, Judge Marc Chisholm endorsed a bail plan worked out by defence lawyer Jennifer McDonald and Crown attorney Brennan MacDonald. Article content The judge ordered the man released on a $5,000 bail order with one surety, an Upper Tantallon woman. Article content The man must reside at an address on Larry Uteck Boulevard in Halifax and cannot have any contact with the boy or be within 25 metres of his home or school. Article content He is also prohibited from attending parks, playgrounds, schoolyards, daycares, recreation centres or anywhere else persons under the age of 12 are likely to be present, except for any Goodlife location in the presence of his surety.
