Article content An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said the critically injured man required resuscitation while being transported to hospital following the incident, which was reported at about 5:40 p.m. on Sept. 22. Article content The incident led to the closure of McArthur Avenue to both vehicles and pedestrians in both directions between Olmstead Street in the east and Cyr Avenue in the west. Article content In mid-evening, more than a half-dozen emergency services vehicles remained at the scene. A red SUV rested in the westbound lane of McArthur, stationed perpendicular to the two-storey building with main-level signage for a barber salon. Article content Nearby, a silver-grey passenger vehicle was also parked in front of the building. Article content The front entrance area of the structure appeared to be severely caved in from the blow it received from the SUV.
