(CGX-T +2.41% increase ) announced a new CEO and a review of strategic alternatives including a potential sale of the company. Before markets opened on Wednesday, the Toronto-based theatre and entertainment company said Bill Walker will replace Ellis Jacob, who announced last year that he planned to retire. Mr. Jacob will serve as a special advisor to the board until the end of the year. Mr. Walker takes over the top job effective today. Mr. Walker is the former CEO of Landmark Cinemas, Canada’s second-largest theatre exhibitor, operating as part of Kinepolis Group NV, a publicly traded cinema company based in Belgium. Regarding the strategic review, the board said it will consider a range of alternatives, “including, but not limited to, a potential sale.” Cineplex said it has made no decisions on any particular strategic alternative, and has not set a timetable for completing the review. ** AGF Management Ltd. (AGF-B-T -0.43% decrease ) reported third-quarter results that missed expectations. Before markets opened on Wednesday, the company reported adjusted EBITDA of $48.8-million for the quarter ended Aug. 31 compared to $46.2-million last year. The result was below expectations of $54.4-million, according to S&P Capital IQ estimates. Adjusted net income attributable to equity owners was $32-million or 49 cents per share versus $31.2-million or 46 cents last year. The expectation was for EPS of 58 cents.
