Woman sentenced in homicide of Burnaby teen Ryan Nagy

IHIT photo sun Homicide investigators say a woman has been sentenced in connection with the homicide of Burnaby teen Ryan Nagy during a home invasion three years ago. In an update Friday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said 23-year-old Rhoda Diabikulu was sentenced this week to seven years in prison for manslaughter after pleading guilty to the charge on March 17. All four people charged with manslaughter and forcible confinement in the case have now been sentenced. Earlier this year, 20-year-old Ali Shamkhi, 20-year-old Rais Usman, and 20-year-old Ousmane Keita were also sentenced in connection with the homicide. On the morning of June 29, 2023, Burnaby RCMP responded to a call at a residence in the 7600-block of 17 Avenue. When they arrived, police found a 19-year-old man, later identified as Nagy, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of the first responders, he died. A woman was located suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. IHIT then took over the case. On March 5, 2026, Shamkhi was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for manslaughter and unrelated firearms offences, after pleading guilty on Oct. 31, 2025. A month later, Usman was sentenced to six years in prison for manslaughter after pleading guilty to the charge on Oct. 17, 2025. Then on June 12, Keita was sentenced to six years in prison for manslaughter after pleading guilty to the charge on March 18. Court heard earlier this year that the two victims were bound with duct tape.
