Article content As Thursday morning, Sept. 10, Oak Street is closed to traffic between West 10th and West 12th avenues. Article content Article content The closure is needed to allow cranes to work on VGH’s operating room renewal project. Article content West 10th Avenue and West 12th Avenue will remain open. Article content Article content The Oak Street closure is in place 24 hours a day with a scheduled reopening of Sept. 22. The City of Vancouver said in a notice that access to residences, businesses and hospital and health services will be maintained. Article content “Those travelling through the area should expect delays,” the city warned. “If you are visiting Vancouver General Hospital or other facilities within the 10th Avenue health precinct, please plan an alternate route and allow extra travel time.” Article content Drivers: Oak will be fully closed for two blocks. Cross streets will remain open, with occasional closures. Expect detours and parking restrictions until the end of the project. Information on road closures is available at vancouver.ca. Article content Cyclists: The West 10th Avenue bikeway will stay open, but travel with caution and follow signs.
