Sarah Pruys/Cabin Radio Share RCMP say they have arrested four suspects believed to be involved in an early Monday shooting in Inuvik that resulted in a man’s death. Police said they were called to the shooting on Bompas Street just before 7am. After the shooting, Inuvik’s hospital entered a lockdown that remained in place until 5pm. The incident was followed by rumours of an active shooter in the town, though RCMP later said police had not issued any shelter-in-place or lockdown order. RCMP did not name the four suspects in a Tuesday news release, but said they are in custody and the police believe no other suspects are at large. A search warrant has been requested to gather more evidence at the scene, police said, and the investigation is ongoing with charges pending. Advertisement. Advertisement. Police said the male victim, who has not been named, was taken to the Inuvik hospital, where he was pronounced dead. “The RCMP extends its condolences to the family and friends of the victim,” police stated.
