The band formed in Los Angeles in 1981 by singer/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich has been a huge concert draw for decades. They are one of the best-selling bands of all time, with sales more than 163 million albums-and-counting. Their concert tours are almost always sold out.
