Article content In a news release dated Sept. 17, police said 19-year-old Adam Bergeron of Gatineau had been charged in late August with possession, distribution and accessing of child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Article content Article content The release said the investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reported the downloading of files containing child sexual abuse and exploitation material from an IP address located in Gatineau. Article content Article content That led to the search of a residence in the Hull sector and an arrest on Aug. 26. Article content The investigation was continuing, police said Sept. 17, adding that information gathered so far indicated that alleged victims in the case may be minors. Article content The release said Bergeron allegedly used instant messaging platforms such as Discord and Snapchat, reportedly with several aliases, most of which were variations of the name “Snaber.” Article content Anyone with information about the investigation or believes they may have been a victim was asked to contact the Gatineau Police Service information line at 819-243-4636, option 5.
