Emily Share Parts of Behchokǫ̀ were without electricity for hours on Sunday afternoon and evening after a power pole was knocked down, the NWT Power Corporation reported. NTPC declared a full outage in the community shortly after 3:30pm. By 6:30pm, the power corporation said crews were restoring power to Rae – one of the communities that makes up Behchokǫ̀ – but the Edzo area would remain “out of power for the duration of the pole repairs, which we expect to take several hours.” Behchokǫ̀ was unseasonably warm on Sunday, with a forecast high of 19C compared to an expected high of 9C for this time of year.
