Article content The 19-year-old defenceman from Miscouche, P.E.I., was named the 35th team captain in franchise history of the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Eagles on Sept. 17. Article content Article content “Obviously, it’s a pretty surreal feeling and it was pretty neat my family – my grandparents (Mike Murphy and Dolly Silk), my parents (Ben and Amanda Murphy) – all got up (to Sydney, N.S.) for it,” Murphy told The Guardian in a phone interview the evening of Sept. 17. “That was a pretty special moment for me and my family. It was a special day.” Article content Eagles head coach Jason Clarke announced Murphy as captain at the end of a team meeting before practice. Murphy’s parents and Mike Murphy then entered the room, and Amanda presented Will with the captain’s jersey as mother and son hugged.
