Article content Teetl’it Gwich’in chef Stephanie Baryluk has been named to the cast of Canadian chefs who will be heating up the competition this season in the hopes of being crowned the Top Chef Canada champion. Article content Article content The 36-year-old chef, who was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, co-founded the Indigenous and women-owned social enterprise Nihkhah Inc., where she uses food as a “tool for cultural revitalization and healing,” according to a cast bio shared by Corus Entertainment. Article content Baryluk grew up hunting, fishing and harvesting, and says her cooking is “grounded in the land, the seasons, and the traditions of the Arctic.” The local culinary talent also helped to develop Simon Fraser University’s Rooted Indigenous Food Program in 2023. Article content Article content Article content The B.C. chef will compete in the Top Chef kitchen alongside: Samuel Chastenay-Joseph and Sara Raspa, both from Montréal; Kathryn Ferries of Ottawa; Lifini Kalikutty of Markham, Ont.; Abigail Lopez of Edmonton; Giovanni Meyer of Milton, Ont.; Hilarie Vatcher of St. John’s, N.L.; and Sebouh Yacoubian of Toronto.
