Article content NAIT held a press conference on Tuesday morning as it broke ground on a new 625,000-square-foot Advanced Skills Centre, the largest capital project in the polytechnic’s history. The facility will “transform skilled trades and technology education, creating new opportunities for thousands of future students,” NAIT said in a news release. Article content Article content Article content Once completed, NAIT says it will consolidate 29 programs from across the campus under a single roof, including construction, transportation, manufacturing and energy. Article content “Today is an extraordinary day for NAIT, and the beginning of a new chapter,” said NAIT president and CEO Laura Jo Gunter in the release. “The Advanced Skills Centre is more than a building. It represents our commitment to future learners, industry, and the province.” Article content The new facility will be on NAIT’s main campus and will cost a total of $779 million, with the Government of Alberta funding 75 per cent of the project.
