Gavin Young/Postmedia Article content Construction on Calgary’s Bearspaw South feeder main replacement has reached another milestone, with about 80 per cent of the replacement steel pipe now installed as crews work toward bringing the new water line into service by the end of the year. Article content The progress also means another round of water restrictions this fall, as the existing feeder main will need to be shut down while crews connect the new pipe to the water system. Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions will be in effect during the work, though an exact date hasn’t been specified yet. We’re still figuring out the exact timing, but we will let you know well before that work begins,” said Mayor Jeromy Farkas in a social media update on Thursday. Article content Michael Thompson, chief operating officer of the city’s water utility, said in July that the restrictions were expected to happen mid-October for roughly four weeks, but that has not been confirmed by the city. Article content The city’s Thursday press release added that more than 90 per cent of the materials needed to complete the project are now in Calgary, including 93 per cent of the required steel pipe.
