HeavyShield, known for her site-specific installations and sculptures, has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada and around the world, including at the National Gallery of Canada.

In June 2022, HeavyShield received the Distinguished Artist Award from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and was honoured the same year with the annual Gershon Iskowitz Prize.
