Article content In a phone call with Postmedia on Wednesday morning, Const. Sandra Geiger said at roughly 1:25 a.m. the plane landed safely on Highway 21 between Highway 16 and Baseline Road, near Sherwood Park. Article content Article content The plane landing blocked the southbound lanes on Highway 21, for a significant period of time, and Strathcona County RCMP were called in to help assist traffic, while emergency crews were able to clear the scene. Article content Article content Two men, the pilot and a passenger weren’t injured in the incident, and no vehicles were involved in any collisions with the plane. Article content “Thankfully, they were able to land the plane safely, and there looks to be no damage to the plane, but why they had to do an emergency landing is currently under investigation,” said Geiger. Article content Geiger said it’s unknown at this time where the plane was scheduled to land, or where it was coming from, but the Transportation Safety Board will do a full investigation into the cause of the emergency landing.
