Article content Sept. 18 was a typical Friday night for Alana Mouland and her teenage son. The pair spent the evening preparing dinner and went to sleep at approximately midnight, with Alana making sure to check the back door, lock up and turn the lights off before going to bed. Article content Article content “Everything was okay,” Mouland told Postmedia, until, she said, it wasn’t. Article content “I got up the next morning around 10:30 a.m., came out my back door, and found that my chair was burned,” Mouland recalled. Article content The mother is one of a number of residents who woke up Saturday morning to find their personal property burned to ash. Article content Wood Buffalo RCMP Corporal Natasha Lytwenko told Postmedia officers responded to reports of arson in the downtown area on Saturday morning. Article content After reporting the incident to police, Mouland was informed two other houses on Alberta Drive, just a street away from hers, were hit with fires through the night as well.
