Article content The neon-coloured ride, which is being installed in the spot where the Mindbender previously stood in Galaxyland, will be themed around Nerf, continuing the Hasbro toys and games theming of the rest of the park. Article content Article content What’s unique about this new rollercoaster is its ability for guests to choose their own thrill level, ranging from a family-friendly “core” mode to a faster “quantum” mode that will see inversions, twists and higher speeds, according to a press release from the mall. Article content “I think anyone who’s visited Galaxyland in the last few years has probably noticed the gap left by the Mindbender’s departure,” said Dutczak. “The Mindbender was seen by many to be the pinnacle attraction at West Edmonton Mall, the ‘king of all the rides and slides,’ so to speak. The ride was in operation since 1985 and once held the title for the world’s tallest and longest indoor triple-loop rollercoaster. It was also known for a tragic incident on June 14, 1986, when, due to design and manufacturing flaws, it jumped the track and hit a pillar, sending four passengers to the floor below. The crash…
