Article content Curtis Geiger had bought his ticket with the Showband 50/50 draw, worth $125,150, in July at the summer festival before heading to Greece for a vacation. Article content Article content More than 30 days later he realized he had won, but was told he had only 48 hours from the announcement to claim the prize. Article content On Wednesday, Calgary Stampede decided to give Geiger the prize money. Article content “We understand how the information available to Mr. Geiger could have caused confusion about the amount of time he had to claim his prize,” Joel Cowley, CEO of the Calgary Stampede, said in a statement. Article content “Mr. Geiger purchased the winning ticket, and based on our review, we believe the right thing to do is to honour that ticket and award him the prize.” Article content Geiger thanked the organization for its decision.
